MLK Jr, Malcolm X, Lincoln, JFK, Rosa Parks, Mother Teresa, Princess Diana, and others inspire me to create a commission against corruption on Kauai.

He too.....was called a Communist.

We label each other liberal, conservative, illegal alien, black, brown or white.....

Our labels, and the judgments that come... de-humanize the person, and ourselves.

Can't we "just get along" or be a lone?

Thanks Joan!

"MLK Jr, Malcolm X, Lincoln, JFK, Rosa Parks, Mother Teresa, Princess Diana, and others inspire me to create a commission against corruption on Kauai."

What about the rest of the state or the rest of the country?

"An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of humanity." MLK

"America will never be destroyed by the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it is because we destroyed ourselves." Lincoln

"A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything." Malcolm X

"Things do not happen. They are made to happen." JFK

"I have learned over the years that once one's mind is made up, this diminishes fear; knowing what must be done does away with fear." Rosa Parks

"Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies." Mother Teresa

"Anywhere I see suffering, that is where I want to be, doin what I can." Princess Diana

"I have faith that things will get better on Kauai and in America. It will be difficult and will take time but getting through this is the only option I'm giving myself." unknown

Well, itʻs gonna be a little harder to practice what Dr. King preached now that our "news"paper is officially part of a monopoly.

I wonder if there was any assistance from the U.S. government in this acquisition.
Kauai is surely a pain in the ass for future military, Gmo, expansion, etc.
Something to think about anyway.

The man had affairs, just like that other "great" man JFK.
His good friend Ralph Abernathy wrote in his auto-biography about these.
I can't respect either one of them, they both abused their positions.

That stuff can bring a great one down real fast.
Makes them a whole lot less greater.

They were not God, they were human, with human failings. MLK was a true leader who knew his public stances on issues of racism, poverty, injustice and war put his life in jeopardy, but that did not deter him. He faced those threats with fearlessness and courage. Thank you Joan for the tribute.

@5:04 No, they were not god, but people held them to a higher standard, we need to see them in the true light of their actions, rather than on the pedastal that has been raised for them!!

Dr King's actions and life make him entirely worthy of admiration and emulation. That fact that he had affairs only humanizes him, it doesn't diminish his greatness.

@9:32 would you be willing to die for a just cause? I can forgive his affairs, if they occurred, because he more than made up for that in the way he lived his short life on earth.

@4:18, Yes for the right cause I would, but we are talking about a minister, who preached gods word, but his religious beliefs were not strong enough to withstand his own sexual urges.
The bible is very clear;

Proverbs 6:32 ESV /
He who commits adultery lacks sense; he who does it destroys himself.

Leviticus 20:10 ESV /
“If a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbor, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
