New on PIKO: Mayor Urges 2491 Delay

As the Kauai Council Council again took up Bill 2491 — the amended pesticide disclosure and buffer zone ordinance —the message from Mayor Bernard Carvalho was try wait.

Read all about it on PIKO, which is where I'll be posting news reports from now on.

The Mayor is correct, delay and get the State to do their job. The Small Business Review Board will take time and other aspects will take time. Gary knows all of this, for crying out loud, he was a grand Pubah in the Senate and has been nuzzling at the public trough for decades and is totally aware of the time needed for ANY legislation. This bill is shibai, all real farmers(not boutique wealthy hobby farmers) know this bill is just a first step for the government to tell you what to do. Y'all are being duped by the bill's authors who are just pandering to fear with no FACTS to prove their allegations. These 2 self-seekers are using hysteria to divide the community, they should be ashamed.

Bullshirt. Hooser and Bynum are heroes. DOA reps Koukbun and Enright are partners in this crime, sounding exactly like biotech lobbyists promoting the same talking points. The state has drug its heals on this for too long - people ARE sick, didn't you hear the Kaua'i doctors, nurses, and parents testimonies? Are you deaf? Last session, legislators and lobbyists tried to REMOVE the counties HRS MANDATE to protect "life and health" of all Hawai'i residents, and they will try again, maybe as soon as Oct. 26th. These companies are out of control completely. God Bless Tim, Gary, and those on the council who will do the right thing to protect residents and visitors - Kaua'i's "number one crop", I might add. This bill needs to be strengthened and passed, next week.

"This bill needs to be strengthened and passed, next week."

Dream on. This bill is unraveling.

The Mayor and his cronies are full of crap. They can contract, get out of state consultants and grant writers but cannot get in state or out of state inspectors to do these studies.

This is a desperate stall tactic to kill the bill. Nakamura is A waste of a councilwoman she does'nt even know that 20 school students got sick and is in a legal battle with the chem/Bio companies.

Stop calling the Chem/Bio Ag companies because that's their cloak and dagger.

I am gonna run for Mayor of Kauai and take down all of Kauai's Home Grown Terrorists.

I'm gonna fire all of the drug addicted county and state workers. I'm going put 100k reward for the capture and conviction of all of Kauai's murderers. I'm gonna create a liasion office to the federal department of justice to take down the syndicates.

I'm gonna stop the fleecing and corrupt no bid contracts. I will build two drug rehab centers- one for adults and one for minors. I'm gonna stop building that stupid pipe dream bike path. Im gonna stop the lihue uptown/downtown project.

I'm gonna cut non essential county workers and save the tax paying citizen a break. I'm gonna have the county fund an FBI office on Island. I'm gonna open a federal criminal investigation on all TVR and licensing department.

I am gonna fire all non qualified employees. I am gonna create a hiring process based on education, experience and credentials and not family ties. I am gonna drug test employees randomly with managers knowing and telling their subordinates.

I am gonna change Kauai and go after the GOBAG.

So the Gov got a few bucks from the pesticide companies and promoted biotech, all the more reason for the State to commit, in writing, by way of rule or legislation, to embrace the precautionary principle with respect to the health and environment on the westside. The Gov used to be a champion of the poor, the disenfranchised, the victims of corporate and government malfeasance (like the wars in Vietnam and Iraq). We'll see in the coming months where he's at. In the meantime, all you anti-gmoers, better go hold the Gov's feet to the fire and demand a seat at the stakeholder's table. Otherwise, the only voice he'll hear will be the pesticide companies and their legions of lawyers and lab rats. And don't go accuse someone of corruption and then expect a whole lotta love (you "effective" agents of change know who you are. Bet you all work for the pesticide companies like that guy in that movie by being total assholes).

Someone needs to tell Momi to stay on Oahu. She is hurting our cause.
