New PIKO Post

With the first lane of the new Wailua cane haul bridge opening, following a blessing by Rev. Ipo Kahaunaele-Ferreira and coinciding with a weather forecast for heavy rain, lightning and even hail, it seems an appropriate time to revisit an article I originally published in Honolulu Weekly on Aug. 4, 2010. Check it out on PIKO.

Having grown riding bike & going swimming in sugar cane runoff Haleiwa plantation in the 60's I understand Kekua's comments ... Human population explosion forces change on our resources, in our living time individuals collectively respond, a conscious culture will be survivable, adaptable, creative servants to Life.

This is a post that opened all three Piko as I read from the damp woods of a moku thousands of miles from your own. I don't visit your blog very often for when I do I must be prepared, powerful and ready to get the full blow of what is happening on the moku of my birth.

I have written a blog post of my own to celebrate the depth of your work-words-view here Joan, http://makuaoo.blogspot.com/2012/10/sacred-everyday-and-gift-of-handwriting.html. The sacred is in everyday, and @ Kumu Kehau ... mahalo nui loa a pau.
